Our Friend Bill Hannegan from St.Louis MO, asked some of us ban warriors to help him.
Smoke-Free St. Louis City long ago promised St. Louis an interactive website concerning the secondhand smoke issue in our town. Though their website has been up since November 2007, Smoke-Free St. Louis City has yet to publish a single comment. Do they fear intelligent opposition to their smoke-free cause? It is time they engage their local opposition! Please e-mail Smoke-Free St. Louis City and ask them to let a real dialogue begin:
I emailed them:
What gives! We were promised opposing blogs on the subject of second hand
smoke. I have tried to leave messages on your so called blog and get an
error that I need to register yet there is nowhere to register. Are you
people legit. Opposing blogs were mentioned in the Arch City Chronicle
and yet yours appears to be dead, It is rather difficult to have an open
and honest dialog when you remain silent, will you ever get it up???
Here was their response:
Marshall,
I am very sorry that you are having trouble commenting on our site. I tried it out a few times today with different email addresses and they all went through, so there doesn’t seem to be an issue with the site. Below, I have listed instructions for registering with movable-type. I hope they help!
Under the entry you wish to comment on, click ‘comments.’ You will have to register first, so don’t bother filling out the information yet- just click the box that says ‘Preview’ at the bottom. This will direct you to the preview page, where you will see the sentence ‘Sign in to comment.’ Click on ‘Sign in.’ This will direct you to the sign in page, at the bottom of which, you will see the words ‘Not a member? Sign up!’ Click on ‘Sign up.’ Fill out the required information and click the blue box that says ‘Register.’
At this point, you will need to wait until one of the administrators logs onto the system and approves you. All users are approved for comment; however, I am only here a few hours a week, so it may take a while.
IF TRUTH IS ON THEIR SIDE, WHY DO THEY LIE? WHAT ARE THEY AFRAID OF?

Thanks Marshall. That helps Keep St. Louis Free!
We have to keep constant pressure on them.
Well good grief! That is NOT open dialog by any stretch. They want you to REGISTER??? I can see some moderation of comments due to hate-mongers, but there is and should be no need for registration.
They want your info, your e-mail on top of already taking a piece of your freedom.
This is outrageous.
It’s all a sham. SFWI has cut me off mid-conversation during posting so that either a) their person gets the last word and it looks like they won since I didn’t retort, or b) they don’t actually have to answer the line of questioning that I present to them.
Either way, it’s all a bunch of hooey!
Would you all try to post on the Smoke-Free St. Louis City website and let me know what happens.
Jessica put up some test posts and I wonder what’s up.

Bill I registered, but if you look at the email I received from them the administrator only works on it a couple of hours a week so I expect it to be next week sometime, hell of a way to run a railroad.
I’ll volunteer and give that site a try at some point, though more outta curiousity’s sake.
Speaking of what you said, I just criticized a person who made a comment on the SFWI blog(this had to do with a post where a commenter made a stupid comment about the Washington and Idaho smoking bans), and it’ll be interesting to see the replies I get to my comment there.
I alluded to the Twin Cities smoking bans on my comment, and I hate that I found a website too late to help me after I posted that showed the amount of Twin Cities bars that closed due to the local bans there was not just around 100, but actually was about 200 bars!
Oops, I meant the ’speaking of what you said’ to Ryan’s comment he made above. Apologies for not being clearer on who I was trying to refer to.
