Guilty Smoker

I’m not a big fan of smoker guilt. If you’re going to smoke, do so proudly. So needless to say it irks me when smokers speak to the media and paint both themselves and smokers in general in a negative light.

So a comment to the reporter in this article really got me going, for self-explantory reasons:

“I enjoy smoking but I can understand why it’s not appreciated by others around me. It’s a gross habit and a personal choice. I’m all for the ban. That might deter some people, but if someone wants to smoke they’ll just take the ticket and keep smoking.” — Vanessa Hanson

  1. That article was really flawed to me anyway, since most people interviewed in that article(save for about 1-2 people) were of the type of people who swallowed up the anti poisonanda, and believed all the lies anti-smokers were saying about smoking and the ‘good’ a ban would be for beaches.

Hah, if those Vancouver antis are dumb enough to want a beach smoking ban, I ask them to come to Chicago, and observe how much the city beach smoking ban is still ignored to this day. It’s a totally pointless law that few smokers obey. What’s so wrong with instead, Vancouver looking at the idea of installing ashtray towers(a la the ones outside of motel/hotel entrances, restaurants, etc.) along those beaches? Fregging idiots….

  2. The bias in the article is blatant and obvious, they didn’t have one person who was against the ban. This was not an article at all, nothing more then out and out propaganda. If they took out an ad it would be more honest.

  3. Yep, you’re exactly right about what that article was, Marshall. I thought the exact same thing as you did about that article! Ugh…… (to the anti writer of that article)

  4. I wonder how many smokers they had to go to before they found one that was self deprecating enough for their needs? Most smokers I know would have told them where to shove their ban, not how disgusting their habit is…

    Bias? Naw…
