… Lottery officials said they hope to have 2,000 vendors by the end of 2008, enabling the state to reach its goal of reaching an annual revenue of $292 million, with $73 million going toward plugging the budget deficit. Keno is a central part of Gov. Ted Strickland’s plan to insulate the state budget from an economic slowdown that is generating less tax revenue.

Smith said although he would welcome such a response he doesn’t expect people traffic generated by Keno to be the financial savior for bars whose sales suffered after the smoking ban took effect…
