Ok, I thought we were fighting a state-wide ban because the anti-smoking folks tell everybody that local control is bad because it creates a “patchwork.” Isn’t that why they keep calling for a level playing field?
But I guess they can’t keep their activism straight. I linked to this site from the Wisconsin Tobacco Control page… In an area written up for lawmakers that specifically states that they don’t want preemption.
Yet, here we have just the opposite… And it’s part of the ACS’ militant arm, the Cancer Action Network and the Americans for Nonsmokers Rights. The site is called “Protect Local Control” with the headline of “Ensuring community rights to pass smokefree ordinances.”
This site is dedicated to arguing for a community’s right to handle things on their own without things being taken care of at the state level.
Hmm. Interesting.
However, this is good news, because it reveals the utter hypocrisy of these people. After all, they argue for local control so long as those localities support smoke-free laws… But they argue for state-wide control when they don’t get their way.
Note to smoke-free: You can’t have it both ways.

Like I have said a thousand times these people are unscrupulous. that document is part of a much bigger document.
You and I both know that in socialist/progressive area’s like Madison they are also in league with the media. I don’t know how many times I have been on forums like madison.com and it seems that when the people fighting the ban appear to have the upper hand they shut the forum down or at least lock it. It is very disheartening when up such dishonest tactics. If the so called truth and science was truly on their side you would think they would welcome an open and honest debate. . . But sadly they keep the truth from the public. They are very good at propaganda but very weak when it comes to put up or shut up.
Here is the guidebook the the ban sponsors use. http://www.no-smoke.org/pdf/CIA_Fundamentals.pdf
