Man they are getting desperate!
Secondhand smoke may give children signs of nicotine dependency, according to Canadian researchers.”Increased exposure to second-hand smoke, both in cars and homes, was associated with an increased likelihood of children reporting nicotine dependence symptoms, even though these children had never smoked,” said Dr. Jennifer O’Loughlin of the Universite de Montreal.
I don’t suppose I can get any of this for my garden, They don’t even supply any numbers or scientific evidence to back it up.
“Exposure to second-hand smoke among non-smokers may cause symptoms that seem to reflect several nicotine withdrawal symptoms: depressed mood, trouble sleeping, irritability, anxiety, restlessness, trouble concentrating and increased appetite,” O’Loughlin said.
A news release on the study did not say what the rate was for those who had not been around smokers.
The findings were published in the September edition of the journal Addictive Behaviors.
Again no scientific evidence. Just a survey of ten to twelve year old kids. If any of you know kids they want to please adults, they will tell you what they think you want to hear. Please people, how about trying to keep up the appearance of scientific integrity. There are to many of us BABY BOOMERS who lived through ETS most of our lives who can tell you that it is a crock!

How silly, there are millions of bar goers that have not become addicted and have a much higher level of exposure.
Yet, “Exposure to second-hand smoke among non-smokers may cause symptoms that seem to reflect several nicotine withdrawal symptoms: depressed mood, trouble sleeping, irritability, anxiety, restlessness, trouble concentrating and increased appetite,” O’Loughlin said.
This could possibily explain the behavior of the antis!
Just a thought, folks tend to be more committed when they are dues paying, card carrying members of an organization.
When is BTBW going to become the ‘ONLY’ smokers’/business owners’ rights group to have dues and membership cards?
There should be a law against this kind of nonsense or some kind of specific requirments before a study can be considered a reliable source of information much less published as such. This is absolutely absurd. We could take a group and conduct a survey with astonishing results, too, if that’s the game they want to play. I’m just sayin’…
This is almost as bad as the Study that linked SHS to students failing test. The theory went, if parents smoked in the home, the kids would fail out of school.
