Chalk one up for Freedom of choice.

Kenosha City voters soundly rejected a proposed workplace smoking ban in Tuesday’s advisory referendum. The final tally was 15,110 “no” to 12,214 “yes”, a margin of 55-45 percent. Meanwhile, incumbents scored easy victories in all local races. Winners included U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, state Sen. Robert Wirch, state Rep. Samantha Kerkman and state Rep. John Steinbrink.

  1. WOO-FREGGING-WHO!!

*stops cheering to say one last thing* Oh yeah, don’t let the door hit ya on the way out, Chaz Bartucz. :)

  2. Great job, Kenosha! You have spoken, now let’s hope the elected officials will listen.

  3. Ooops, meant to say woo-hoo. So easy to misspell words when I get excited about something, ha!

  4. Look at this – comment from the link about the Kenosha smoking ban:

“Looking forward to working with the tavern owners in the City of Kenosha to get the statewide ban passed that they kept pushing at the city council hearings. Their input will help the State Tavern League and Senator Wirch see that this measure would be beneficial for the health of the people of Wisconsin, even if the people in Kenosha have little regard for their own health. They would rather allow others to exercise their nicotine addiction than protect their own health. (Watch for Kenosha to move way down the list of good places to live.) Together, we will get the smokefree workplace bill in the state senate passed into law, just as Senator Wirch suggested last spring and continues to support in the new session coming up. We can use your campaign signs with a slight modification: “Be Fair To Kenosha – Vote YES on the Statewide Smokefree Workplace Law”. “

THIS is the attitude that needs snuffing out, not the cigarettes.

WHERE do these people get off?

WHO do they think they are to make decisions like this for other people?

WHAT is it going to take to get these idiots to mind their own damn business?

This is getting really, REALLY old now. Idiots like this need to be put in their place and FAST.

  5. Thanks for posting that some idiot had posted that comment, Jeni. I hadn’t even had noticed someone had posting something that ridiculous as a comment on that article!

“Watch for Kenosha to move way down the list of good places to live”- Hahaha, is this guy very stupid or what? Kenosha voters on November 4th very wisely stuck with freedom of choice on the smoking issue(not to mention many businesses there already choose to be 100% smoke-free, such as for example, the bar Rendevous(on 52nd Street)), unlike i.e. Illinois, Madison, Appleton, Eau Claire, and so on. And I don’t even need to begin to discuss how ridiculous of a comment that was, except that we can both agree he was brainwashed by the smoke-free groups very well. :)

  6. Obnoxious , self-righteous, whining little focks.
My biggest fear is that if I quit smoking, I’ll become on of you..
    .Don’t take that wrong
. I have something to tell you non-smokers
that I know for a fact that you don’t know,
and I feel it’s my duty to pass on information at all times.

    Ready?…….

    Non-smokers die every day..

    .Enjoy your evening.
