More complaints filed

I have filed official complaints with the following counties:

Burnett, Polk, Rusk, Pierce, Chippewa, Eau Claire, Clark and LaCrosse

Over the new “report” that surfaced in October, which was really nothing more than a carbon copy of the Fond du Lac “report” with a few different statistics and more colorful graphs and charts than the FDL one. The complaints were filed with the Health Departments with copies also sent to the county clerks, county administrators, and all associated state legislators.

I found it amusing that this was a copy of the FDL report; but at the same time I was pretty irked that they thought they could get away with it. Either way, it’s an asinine approach and the fact that they are trying to blanket Western Wisconsin under this crap is irritating… Although now we know why Smoke Free WI was snooping around my backyard a few weeks back…

  1. Do these people have any scruples at all! From their report.

The standard for daily exposure, that is the greatest exposure allowable in a single 24-hour period, is 40 micrograms per cubic meter.

In a previous blog I clearly showed that this is not a peak standard and was never intended to be it is average therefore they would have to follow the average customer around and average out their exposure. Not to mention again these are outdoor air quality standards not Indoor.

    Again from their report.

Seven establishments, including a smokefree restaurant, were monitored on March 14 in Rusk County. During the time of the monitors’ visit between 5- 5:30 PM, no cigarettes were smoked in the first establishment; nonetheless, the air quality in the restaurant was “unhealthy” by DNR standards. The second site was a smoke-free establishment and had a very low level of pollutants, only 3-5 micrograms.

If you notice the don’t even say what time the smoke free establishment was tested, were there any customers at all? Was there any cooking taking place?(since cooking puts out particulate matter.) Remember the first establishment did not have any smoking going on but it failed. Of course that was at 5:30 PM during the dinner rush. I would seriously like to see them do this study at a welding shop or foundry or even an auto shop.

  2. That’s a rhetorical question (”Do these people have any scruples…?), right?
