I just received word today that Lake Geneva had their lawyers draw up a ban. I don’t know many details yet, but I do know that this will come up on Dec 8th. I don’t know if this will be a hearing or a vote.
I will post more information as I get it.
In the meantime, here is a form letter to send to the city council members:

How sad to see another small town caving in to paid lobbyists. Smoking in public places, such as court houses or city buildings is, of course, the choice of the government. Do you not realize that small businesses belong to private individuals who USED to have property rights in this country.
They have paid with years of work to own their own property.
If you do not want to be around smoke, go to non smoking venues. There are lots of them to chose from.
The people who want to control smoking are not even from your community. They simply fund those ladies who are badgering your City Council.
Johnson and Johnson Co., who just happen to make Chantix, Nicoderm and Nicoderm CQ, donate hundreds of millions of dollars per year through their partner, the James Wood Johnson Foundation, which sends the money through the World Health Organization. The money then goes to groups calling themselves Anti Smoking or Anti Tobacco or some other name. These groups consist of ladies who work in your Health Department. They are paid well and receive great insurance and retirement. They do not even clock out of their County jobs to lobby your Councilmen.
Doctors love this as they are big investors in pharma stocks and write the prescriptions, too! Your local paper makes good advertising dollars. ALL the big guys win.
Just imagine how many sick people could actually be helped if our Health Departments were not so busy buying ads and making posters and pamphlets!
Try walking into a Health Department and asking for help for an illness or even to quit smoking. What a shock that would be for them.
Hopefully all small business people will support each others private business rights. Don’t think that these people will stop. They don’t. They will never run out of pharmaceutical company money.
Call your council people. Register to vote.
If you feel like you MUST control other peoples lives- STOP- take a long look in the mirror. Read the facts. They are available.
Smoking is stinky to non smokers. Fat people are yucky to skinnies. Fords are worthless to Chevy people.
I doubt most people even go into bars. For some people it beats the heck out of sitting home alone, watching TV and getting fat.
Don’t you find it curious that these lobbiest AND your government have not even suggested banning the sale of tobacco products??? Then people would quit smoking. I guess the government doesn’t want to give up their dollars from this horrible, deadly product.? They also do not want to tackle the big boys- Dillons, Kwik Shops, WalMart. Those guys CAN afford to fight back and would.
Pick on the little guys. How sad
